Mamadou Moustapha Dieng is a lawyer by training with 20 years of experience in research, human rights promotion and protection, and training, including within the United Nations system.
He holds a Master's degree in International Relations and a Postgraduate Diploma (DEA) in Law and Human Rights from Pierre Mendes-France University in Grenoble, France; a certificate in human rights from the International Institute of Human Rights (IDH) in Strasbourg, France; and a certificate in arbitration law and practice from Hameline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA.
Before joining the United Nations, Mamadou Moustapha Dieng was a researcher at the University of Minnesota School of Law's Center for Human Rights for three years, where he worked on social protection issues for informal sector workers in Africa.
Mamadou Moustapha Dieng has served as a human rights and civilian protection specialist in various United Nations missions, including in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Afghanistan, and Mali.
His areas of interest include children's rights, gender-based violence, the right to development, fundamental civil liberties, and capacity building in social matters, particularly human rights at work.
Mamadou is also passionate about regulatory monitoring in the area of sustainable development, given the rapid evolution of practices, innovations, and regulations.
